Systemic and selective herbicide and belongs to the chemical family of sulfonylureas. Nicosulfuron is absorbed mainly through the leaves, and to a lesser extent through the roots. After absorption, nicosulfuan is immediately distributed inside the plant, which immediately stops its growth (cell division is blocked at the level of the meristems). Nicosulfuron acts by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), essential for the synthesis of the amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine.
